Queer Folks
“Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?” ~Ernest Gaines.
This is an article about the being a male and like it or not gentlemen; part of that spectrum are homosexual males. I know others who just assume that anything that is said about gay men is said with malice because they are not gay and therefore they have no idea.
I have to say that I know too many gay men from my generation. I know a lot of men who are sweet, lovely, many who are flamboyant and many who are understated about their sexuality and do not release information about their sexuality. I do know some men who are repressing what many people see as gay tendency.
It always surprises me when I come across someone stupid enough to hate someone based solely on their race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. I have always assumed that people would have to be over it by now. Surely there are more important things to worry about than averting fellow human beings based on stereotype.
In the Philippines where a large percentage of the population is traditional Catholics, I know that there are younger homosexual guys that do not handle life as well as older homosexuals and it has primarily has something to do with their sexuality.

I am heterosexual and have some lovely gay friends. They have a lot challenging life stories about their childhood; an abusive father, being teased at school, finding it harder to find jobs than anyone else, and confusion on what to wear and how to act on different occasions and crowd.
One day, I wish that people would not even look at gay or straight people and think anything different. In my opinion there is too much reverse prejudice and double standards today. It can be very confusing for a man.
One guy I know refused a new queer/gay housemate in his share house because apparently being gay disgusts him. He’s not religious. He went to a highly respected private school where numerous teachers were gay. His comments were that they are promiscuous and come home with different guys every night. So what? Who here hasn’t seen or known a heterosexual guy or girl who hasn’t?

You are very right. And the summary at the beginning made me laugh. Keep it up. I would like scientists to isolate the gene responsible for homosexuality.
