The Rainbow is Not a Symbol of Homosexuality

The Rainbow is for everyone.

Recently my friend’s dog of 15 years had to be put down. It was so hard for her family to go through this. As many pet owners know that your pets are family. She was at work and her coworker gave her a beautiful poem about pets and how when they are gone they go to a place just over the rainbow and are happy. It was a very heartfelt poem. She framed it and also gave her a rainbow bracelet to remember her dog by. This touched my friend so much. She cried and put the bracelet on right away. Since it was time for lunch she headed to the local deli. The girl behind the counter was nice to her. Saying things like I’ve never seen you here before, I’ll throw in a free appetizer, love your hair. My friend thought this is such a friendly place. She then went to get her coffee and the girl working there did the same thing as the other girl except she asked her for her phone number so that they could hook up. She said no and then the girl looked down at her bracelet. Twice she had been hit on for wearing a rainbow bracelet. A reminder for her of her dogs peace. Since when did the rainbow become a big sign that says look at me I’m homosexual?

In the bible the rainbow is the symbol that GOD gave us. It was a reminder that he would never flood the earth again. How did it go from that to being Gay or Lesbian? Now the bracelet sits on her dresser not being worn. I guess it is like the wedding ring. If it is on everyone knows you are married, if it is off you are not married. So look out world if you are a fan of the rainbow and wear it proudly, you must be homosexual……

I don’t think so. The rainbow belongs to all of us, the Christians, the dog lovers, the girl scouts, the family who wants peace, the little kindergartner that loves to color, the grandma who remembers a better day, the hippie and yes even the other groups of people who like the same sex. It belongs to us all. Not just one group who chooses to own it.  So next time you see someone with rainbow attire or jewelry, don’t assume they are Gay……..
