The Reality of Homosexuality Part Two
This is the second in a series of blogs about homosexuality.
State
While the state (government) has no legislation to make a particular sexual preference illegal, some would argue that to withhold the rights of marriage stand as a strong substitute. The harsh reality is that the laws of this land were written in a time when homosexual relations were extremely taboo to even think of privately. Though the founders of this country came seeking (in part) religious freedom, those ideal freedoms did not stretch beyond their religious influences.
What is more of a harsh reality is that their main influence was the bible which says that homosexuality is wrong (Leviticus 18:20:13; 22-23). This influence also makes reference that those who are led by the Holy Spirit are not subject to the law (Galatians 6:18 NIV).
So is it reasonable to deduct that if the initial laws of the land were based on biblical principles, then to obey biblical principles would keep one from trouble with the law? Thieves go to jail and/ or are fined. Statutory rapists have an especially extended stay in prison. Even adulterers have to deal with long, lengthy, expensive divorces. To lack financially, without freedom and without hope of making life better or at least with little hope of successful restoration is a stressful and uncomfortable way to live. Let’s not factor in the recession.
Yet, these are all consequences enacted and enforced by laws based on biblical principles. Truly, the correlation between following certain biblical principles and living comfortably free from the consequences of the law are blatant. These are consequences that society has grown accustomed to. It’s simply how things have always been.
So is it such as surprise that acting on something outside biblical principles runs into problems with the law? Is it such as surprise that the government will not grant marriages to gay and lesbian couples just as God didn’t in the bible? Is this the consequence for going against the natural design of man and wife? (Keeping in mind that the government didn’t create this physical dynamic between humans, but God. The government has simply followed the influences of the peoples preference.)
Is it much easier to blame government than God? Is the government wrong for using biblical principles as its skeleton? Or does this make God, himself, guilty of discrimination?
The bible says that God will not turn away anyone who seeks him (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV). It goes on to say that nothing can separate people from God’s love (Romans 8:31 NIV).
If that is true, then can a person reason that maybe the issue rest within self acknowledgment and accountability? How often do people ask hard questions such as these? Are people willing to face the answers?

I don’t. It appears to be scholarly and well researched but it’s in actual fact the same anti-gay diatribes we’ve got used to reading and hearing from people who profess love but in actual fact espouse hatred. What’s worse is it’s written to give the impression there’s care and concern when really it comes down to blinkered thinking and wanting everyone to think and feel as ‘they’ do.

(This is meant for Jonathan) Homosexuality is a very unhealthy lifestyle. Not just physically, but emotionally. Whenever you use something for a purpose it wasn’t intended bad things happen. Would it be “hateful” to allow a loved one to happily engage in alcoholism? And homosexuality doesn’t even make sense. If it is ok to be gay then everyone could be & eventually, no one would exist. Even unintelligent people get that. So I am not sure what that makes you & those who think like you.

I go with Emily on my views. Homosexuality is against nature\\\’s laws.
Being a biologist, I strongly appeal to people to adopt a natural way of life, rather than experimenting homo stuffs.
Nice post Scarlett.

Thanks to everyone who has read so far. Please remember to read part one of this article first. It’s important to be well informed and completely educated of the pros and cons of any situation no matter which side of the line you happen to fall on. Lack of education, purpose or willingness to learn will always lead to prejudice.
