Why Do So Many Women Identify as Bisexual? – Part 3: Real Bisexual Women
by A look at why so many women identify as bisexual, and how this fad affects actual bisexual and lesbian women.
Now more than ever, women are identifying as bisexual. Though the increasing acceptance of homosexuality and bisexuality may play a role in in increase of women embracing a bisexual identity, there are other factors that have nothing to do with sexual attraction that cause women, especially younger women, to claim to be bisexual.
Part 3: Actually Attracted to Women
Women who are actually bi do exist, but seem to be in the minority. Because of these “fake bisexuals,” a lot of real bisexual women may choose to live as either straight or lesbian to avoid being labeled as “promiscuous,” or “attention whores.” It may also be easier to enter a serious relationship by adopting a “mono-sexual” identity.
Lesbians may be afraid to be with a “bisexual” woman because so many of them only want a short fling or affair with a woman, and will eventually want to settle down with a man. Men who want a serious relationship may be afraid that a “bisexual” woman would cheat on him with a woman, or he wouldn’t be able to fulfill her sexually. Most men who want to be with a bisexual woman want sex, and sec only. If you actually are bisexual, and are “out,” it might prove to be extremely difficult to get anyone to take you seriously.
There may also be some women who claim to be bisexual, but are actually lesbians. Though this is rare (it happens more with gay men claiming to be bisexual), it does happen. Some women might be ashamed to be a lesbian, and want to “blend in” with straight society by becoming romantically involved with a man, even if they are not attracted to him.
If real bisexual individuals are ever going to gain respect, it is important for “fake bisexuals” to stop claiming the identity. It is also important for other people to learn that there is a difference between real bisexuals and fake bisexuals, instead of lumping both groups together and stereotyping bisexual women based on the behavior of girls who are not actually bi.

there seems to be much more lesbians instead of bisexual women today, in my opinion. as a straight man, i was married twice and was a very caring and loving husband that never cheated on them. however, they did cheat on me. i was also very committed as well. now that i am alone, i will go out every night hoping to be at the right place at the right time to meet a good woman for me. since i am by myself, i have no reason to stay home anymore. i do feel better knowing that i am out of the house being around other people. meeting the right woman for me, will be like winning the lottery.
