Women Soccer: A Liberation of Lesbianism?

I recently went to a soccer match with my 12 year old daughter one of her friends, and I couldn’t believe how those players were build! huge legs, big muscles, short and colored hair, some of them looked like boys.

I didn’t think anything about it until we went to the concession stand to buy food and drinks, On front of us were two women in their 30′S or 40′S holding hands, touching one another and kissing.

And to be honest with you; I have no problems with gay people, (have friend that are) But was hard for me to explain to the two little ones why they were hugging and kissing in public.

first of all! I couldn’t make a clear comment to my daughters friend beacuse i don’t know how her parents fill about the whole idea.

Second! I couldn’t tell my daughter that a was OK to kiss other women, She is only 12!!

We all know that girls when young, hug and hold hands all the time when they are together playing or going places like school or shopping centers.

Even thought! I know some women that are friend and they do hug in public or hold hands but not kissing in the mouth or feeling each-other up.

And as i was looking around to my surprise, I saw more adult women holding hands and hugging like that ones that I seen in the main lobby.

My two youngest daughters play soccer in our town and they have plenty friends.

I have some concerns and questions.

Is soccer a way for young athletes to change their ideas as they get oldder and exposed to such a behavior?

Is a chance how will they feel about other women because of the game?

Is a chance that they will be come lesbians

I guess time will tell, but for right now I am trying to do my job as a parent and discuss with them different things and be open mind about reality.
