9/11 Heroes Suffering Health Issues

People exposed to the dust and debris when the twin towers fell on 9/11 are at risk of serious health problems.

Another anniversary of 9/11 is approaching. We all remember the shock, terror, and concerns we felt that day. People all over the world knew of this catastrophe. Despite the clouds of dust, the piles of debris, and other dangers, our heroes did the best they could to save innocent lives during that time of turmoil. Now, the very people who helped so much during the country’s time of need are suffering serious health issues. Police, fire fighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nurses, volunteers, civilians, victims, and so many more people were present during the attack, rescue efforts, and ground zero clean-up.

These health problems are being linked to the dust that so many people were subjected to when the towers fell. The catastropic collapse caused utter destruction, so many things were crushed into dust and other tiny particles.  Some media outlets are even referring to the 9/11 dust as “toxic dust,” and rightfully so! The dust contained particles from broken electronics, building materials, concreted, and more. Some of the more dangerous components of the dust included alkaline materials, asbestos, lead, and mercury.

As a result of the exposure to these materials, many health problems are resulting. There are reports of asthma, sinus problems, muscle issues, and even digestive distress. The lungs of our heroes are permanently scarred, so many of them have already been martyred. In addition to breathing troubles, severe headaches and even brain afflictions have been reported. As time passes, it is certain that more people affected by the toxic dust will come forward with health problems. The dust was so thick and encompassed such a large area, there are thousands of people that may have been affected by the dust. Simply breathing or accidentally swallowing the dust particles could have been the cause of these illnesses being faced today.
