Citizenship In America

The citizenship in America is a very good thing to have. It allows you to do many things people living in the U.S. without citizenship can not do. There are many different topics about Citizenship in America, but there are three main ones I chose. How to become a citizen, Benefits of being a citizen, and How to lose citizenship.

How to become a citizen:

There are two ways in becoming a citizen. One is if they’re born in the U.S. they’re already a citizen. If they weren’t they must be over 18, and lived in the U.S. for five years. They must be physically present in the U.S. for at least 30 of the last 60 days, and must pass a test on United States history. Lastly, they must be fluent in the English language, and be able to read and write it as well. These are just a few of the things needed to become a citizen.

Benefits of being a citizen:

There are many different things you get when they become a citizen of the United States. They earn the right to vote, the ability to become a part of the government, aside from President or Vice President. They also earn the right to participate in all political systems. These are a few rights that Citizens of the United States earn.

How to lose citizenship:

In History, U.S. citizenship could be lost if they did various acts, including naturalization in a foreign state, service in foreign armed forces, and voting in a foreign political election. Later on Congress passed a law to where they could only lose citizenship if they did something that expressed direct conduct on giving up their citizenship. Congress left one thing the same, if you do anything to hurt, or destroy government property or its Army, its immediate loss of Citizenship and life-time jail. This is how one would lose their citizenship.

In conclusion:

It would be a good idea to become a United States citizen if possible. Just as long as you do not go and do something that would make you lose it.
