Compromises of the US Constitution

How the United States Constitution is made up mostly of compromises for the American citizens.

One of the final compromises made in the constitution was the Bill of Rights, that being the first ten amendments listed in the text. This bill mainly helped to limit the power of the government, by granting both individual and state rights to America. This is seen in the First Amendment, because it clearly states that the government cannot restrict anything that a person believes, thinks, says, or writes. The Fourth Amendment makes it so that an individual’s home or place of residence cannot be violated or intruded upon unless a warrant is granted to those try to search. The Fifth Amendment, a person cannot be forced to answer for any crime, and cannot be compelled to be a witness against his or herself in a court. Last but not least, all powers that are not left up to the government are instead left up to the will of the people and states. The rights stated in the first ten amendments, are all compromises given to the people in order to further fulfill their needs.

After looking at multiple bills and rights listed in the United States constitution, it is very plain to see that the constitution really just consisted of compromises made between the government and the citizens. We saw that the states were given votes in congress based on population, in order to make it fair for everyone. Also, the south finally had their way by getting mostly all of their escaped slaves returned to them. And finally, many rights were given to the citizens in the Bill of Rights, in order to make a country that is free and fair to everyone.

Ecast, nice summary. I want to read more American history. I haven’t read much since school. I also would love to study the Bill of Rights and amendments more so I can better understand our corporate and individual rights.

so many inaccuracies its not even funny
uggg reading this makes me feel sick. The Northwest Ordinance was about the area to the west of the Appalachian mountains and north of the ohio river valley, not about south states wanting their slaves back.
The bill of rights was not originally in the constitution.

the three fifths compromise (not clause) was actually that only three fifths of a states slave population would count when determining amount of votes, it had nothing to do with kidnapping. also, it was made AFTER the constitution
