Federal Reserve Bank
This is about going to the Federal Reserve Bank in Atl. Georgia.
Federal Reserve Bank
The last place in Georgia I’m going to talk about is the Federal Reserve Bank. It was a really cool museum and it was free.
The first thing we saw was a cow with a $1 bill wrapped around its stomach. I think its name was a girl name like Sally or something. It looked pretty cool and they had a picture of it on a postcard.
Then we went into the first room of the museum. It had a display of slides that shows the history of money. The first of 2 slides didn’t show any money though. It showed objects that people bartered [traded]. There were also movies in the room you could watch about what the Fed. Bank does.
In the next room you get to try to lift a block of gold. I don’t remember how much it weighed but I do know it was worth a lot. With both hands I could pull down the lever you use to lift it. You could also see the history of how the $20 bill became what it is now. The last thing you see in this room is some fake dollar bills. Underneath the bill it lists what makes it fake. There is also a real copy of the bill next to it.
In the 2nd to last room you see a machine shredding up money. There is a machine which tests if the money is good or bad. If it’s bad money then it goes to the shredding machine. You also get to see a truck loaded with $5 bills. That truck had a lot of money in it.
The last room is a theater where you get to push buttons to watch movies about the Fed. Bank. There are 2 movies to watch and then the displays are over and you get to get souvenirs.
The souvenirs you get to choose from are a bag of shredded money and some postcards. Those are also free too.
I liked going to the Federal Reserve Bank. It was a lot of fun.
