The first ever computerized civil registrar in the entire country launched in Caloocan City which currently makes easier for residents in securing their civil records.
The computerized civil registrar was formally activated recently by Caloocan City mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri after the computers to be used for the task of producing civil records arrived in the city.
Caloocan City mayor Echiverri said the computers will be able to save record details such as birth, marriage and death certificates all the way back from the 1900s to the present thanks to the 10 hard drives packed with 750 gigabytes each containing 100,000 microfilmed documents.
He elaborated that encoding of the records has already commenced to facilitate the easy access of residents to birth, marriage and death certificates whenever they would need these documents.
Moreover, City civil registrar Lucena Flores disclosed that it would only take as little as five minutes to process the needed documents using the new computerized format.
Echiverri, also, through the help of the computerized civil registrar, residents would no longer have to deal with fixers that victimize people who are out to acquire their birth, marriage and death certificates.
He said it was the local government’s goal to ultimately ease the burden on residents who used to wait long hours to get their documents aside from the fact of bringing the first ever computerized civil registrar in the country to Caloocan City.
“This is another victory for our beloved city and you can rest assured that we will continue to come up with meaningful projects that will benefit the people,” Echiverri said.
