Government Bows to Anna
Campaign for a clean government.
Politics in India has become a extremely lucrative career option for the people post-independence. The national wealth has perhaps become the personal wealth of the politicians,they hoard public money and become fabulously rich accumulating cash in Swiss banks which will perhaps satisfy the needs of their seven generations, the common man continue to remain horribly poor despite contributing to the national exchequer in the form of taxes. Every second day the national dailies are splashed with headlines of scam stories involving politicians, enough is enough it’s time to raise our voice against our elected representatives.
Social activist and ex-army man Anna Hazare needs no introduction. Many a times he has fought for the rights of the people and made the state government yield to his justified and righteous demands. Annasaheb’s fast unto death in the last week demanding the re- drafting of a more stringent lok pal bill to book the corrupt politicians has triggered into a national movement thanks to Annaji for bringing about this national awakening.
A simple patriotic army man with Gandhian values has shown the world that in a democratic set up the voice of the people matters the most. The victory of the cricket world cup has faded to oblivion with the anti- corruption crusade of Anna Hazare. This anti-corruption campaign of Anna garnered support from the entire nation which even he must have not expected when he started the agitation. The support came in from prominent figures from all walks of life including politics, bollywood, sportsmen, retired government officials and common man.
The anti- corruption camaign which has turned into a mass movement has put the government in a dilemma as to agree not to some of the pre- conditons laid down by Anna. But, by the enormous support of the people has made them give in to his demands though grudgingly. The country which is rotten to the core by corruption since the last several decades will see a new ray of hope with the arrival of this new Gandhi.
