Government Efficiency!

The United States Government is not terribly efficient or accountable. If most agree on that item alone, why do we entrust any program to its control?

“I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

“Close enough for government work.”

“Government efficiency.”

Quick, name me one government department, agency, or branch that is efficient and operates on budget. Name just one. Let’s run through some.

  • Defense. Laughable. $210 hammers are legendary. Good equipment and services but hardly on budget. Just the bureaucracy to bid on items is fraught with mid-tier bureaucrats and heavy regulations. Necessary but highly inefficient.
  • Social Security Administration. If they still send checks to deceased citizens, it’s not efficient or well run.
  • Education. Useless organization that should have been turned over to the States and local Education departments.
  • Congress. Now, that is funny. Think junkets. Think ‘Bridge to Nowhere.’ Think “Congressional bank.”
  • Health and Human Services. That would be Medicare and Medicaid to name two departments within HHS. If you’re on Medicaid, you’re ill and need to go to the doctor, the government will pay for the trip to the emergency room and all expenses there. For a cold. That’s highly inefficient and wasteful. And it happens thousands of times every day.

When the government wants to be efficient, it’s only a pipe dream. When they want to help, they cause dependency. The United States Government is not terribly efficient or accountable despite its best efforts to be both. If most on both sides of the aisle agree on that item alone, why do we entrust any program to its control?
