Hello Illinois Control
This was indeed a vacation to remember. I have been here several times before and this time things happened to make this one very peculiar and different. Control seems to be the order of the day.

WE arrived here o a Saturday evening after being picked up in a western Kentucky city at my brothers house. It was also a bit different than any experience that we had in prevevious visits there and that in itself is another story. My daughter and her two children came to pick us up and now, my wife and I, were here to spend a couple of weeks.
Everything seemed to be strange and it was if I had somehow moved into a different time period. We were no longer in control of our vacation activity. it was as though everything that we wanted to do was being controlled by others.
Let me explain because I want you to know first of all, I don’t want to sound like an ungrateful senior citizen, at least I tried not to be. From the moment we started our vacation which began when we landed at the Airport in Lexington in eastern Kentucky we could not go where we wanted to go or when we wanted to go. We could not eat what we wanted to eat or when we wanted to eat. It was control of the “friendliest” kind. If we asked for certain foods, they offered what they thought tasted much better and the fruit drinks that they gave were some of the latest at the supermarket. It happened there and at my brother’s home and now I had a sense that it was about to happen here in Illinois.
After we unloaded our bags we settled down to watch a little T.V. before dinner time. My wife started right in to prepare a meal that she was sure all of us would enjoy. The only problem was, the meal she was going to prepare had to be changed to another one because everything she needed was not available in the pantry or the refrigerator. My wife like to cook “Old School Soul Food.” Things such as fried chicken, fish, roast beef, mashed potatoes, cornbread, collard greens, macaroni, meatloaf, and etc.. Instead we ended up going to the Fast food restaurant getting the burgers, fries, soda drinks and stuff like that. Anyway my daughter did not do much cooking at home and the children ate a lot of food at Restaurants. They did eat snacks at home and were content to lay around and watch a lot of Television and play video games all day until their mom came home. I did feel like an elderly intruder after we were there a couple of days.
