Is the Finger Pointing at You Alone?

We as a nation are being pointed at. Those who can still read the signs of the time see it is our turn. It is not that they wish of bad, though many do, it is some satisfaction to see the mightiest nation brought to her greedy knees. A very hard statement, one hard to write about but just for a minute have you wondered why we are hated so much? I have heard the term, “They are jealousy of our freedom, our resources”. Perhaps some would accept that, but I believe it is more accurate because we took their freedom and their resources.

For the next few minutes you will enter the world of a typical scene of business, carried on almost daily some where in the world. What you read may not surprise you but to most of you, it should be a shock.

Brand-x is small but ambitious company seeking new products from abroad to improve their bottom line. Not so hard to find the products but finding a reliable source, one that could continue to supply the local need of the small company should its advertizing campaign be successful, now that was a different matter. The plan was very simple, find a product that might have the domestic appeal, a very cheap price then hype the market until their fortune was made. They would not be the first to exploit a foreign product nor a foreign people. All the big boys of the past had and is doing it. Why, United Fruit stole thousands of acres of land, exploited the natives to work the plantations and reaped fortunes. So is the story of Coco Cola and Pepsi Cola in the soft drink industry. Coffee, sugar cane and oil companies have been doing the same thing for centuries. Many of these British ventures enslaved the natives virtually converting them into slave labor overnight. It is call today capitalism and their first obligation is to their stockholders: Profit.

Let us give our small ambitious company a name, a fake name so we will not get confused down in the story. Since I know the direction of the story, I will pick Brand-x as the company name. I want to export a food product that has been proven on the streets of its native country. I send a representative to find such a product to one of the third world countries. After making many inquires and tasting what seem to be tons of street products, three bouts with diarrhea, our representative has selected what he considers to be a prime product for the snack industry. It is crunchy, salty and leaves a very satisfied feeling. On top of that, the simplicity of its ingredients and recipe make it suitable for mass marketing techniques. Samples of the product are forwarded to Brand-xand the board has their first sampling. Eureka, our representative has done a marvelous job, this is the one. Wheels of exploitation begin in earnest.

The authorities of the third world country island is contacted, informed that you desire a monopoly on the local product to protect your interest of exportation. The production facility will be built in their country hiring locals to do the work. This is all very satisfying and encouraging to the officials. Tax dollars will be most welcome from an enterprise using a local product, surely will attract other investors. So exclusive rights for a monopoly of the product is established and permits given for the construction of the local production facilities.
