The media is telling us the US Postal Service will not be delivering mail on Saturday or Sunday any more. Reason; to save about a billion dollars in funds and keep our postal system up and running. Now we hear the flack…
Oh my what will we do without that extra day of junk mail, all the advertising and unwanted weekly freebie papers. How dare the Post Office do this! I might have a check coming or bills to pay. Good grief! What is the matter with folks anyhow? It is not the end of the world if you don’t get a mail delivery on Saturday. If other businesses are cutting back and tightening up there is no reason the Postal Service should not be doing the same thing. It makes good common sense.
I personally think this is a good thing. Our country is in a crisis. We all need to tighten up and save money where we can. We all need to do our part.
For those of you who are worried about not getting your bills on time…Those who send out the bills know this is happening. They will send them to you in a timely manner. You will get your bills. Don’t worry. You will still have to pay the piper and you can do it on Friday or on Monday. No big deal. You will adjust. You are not the center of the universe. Get over it. Use a little common sense. It gives you one more day not to have to moan and groan about the cost of living. You’ll have one more day not to have to stress out over paying bills and not having any money left because you never budgeted your money in the first place and over charged on what you cannot afford.
That check that you expect to be delivered on Saturday, well, you need to learn to plan around that because the check will be there on Friday or Monday. The banks aren’t open anyhow. Learn to budget your money and plan ahead. Most companies do not pay their help on Saturday anyhow. If you work for one who happens to (if you work) then the company knows this is happening and will adjust their pay day. It is called people working together to make life work for all of us including your mail delivery person.
If you are expecting a government check, on a State Welfare program, SSI or SSD and the like, those checks are only paid on specific dates of the month anyhow and if that date falls on a weekend or holiday it is paid the day before and you already know that. What is your complaint? You can always have that check direct deposit to your checking or savings account or the money is already direct deposited to a government issued debit card. Your whines are senseless.
If it is a letter you are waiting for, come on, who are you kidding. Most of us use e-mail and social networking these days anyhow and if you don’t work for a living that is probably where you spend most of your time every day anyhow. It has nothing to do with the US Postal Service.
Personally, I think this is a good thing. It saves a lot of money. People get to keep their jobs, most of them will, and we all still get paid in a timely manner. We will all survive without a Saturday mail delivery. I don’t have to waste time sorting through the stack of junk mail, doing recycle, shredding anything with personal information on it and taking out the trash. I don’t mind if they take Saturday off. I hope they all have a great weekend with their family and friends. I hope you do too. And if you are really bored and can’t live without all that mail to read, here is a suggestion. The library is open. Go read a good book and you can always go to the internet to play…unless of course you didn’t pay the bill in a timely manner and that is no one’s fault but your own.
I think we will all survive if the mail isn’t delivered on Saturday. Get a life. Use some common sense. The US Postal Service is doing what they can to keep from going under and we need to work with them and not against them. Life happens so deal with it.
