Obama’s Approval Rating: How Does It Compare to That of Former Presidents?

Obama’s approval ratings have just fallen to 43%. Let’s see how he compares to other presidents.

Why this article doesn’t include all the presidents

The presidential approval rating only started being graphed in 1937 by Gallup. Any president before 1937 will not be included in this article. This means that some of the presidents who did not have their approval ratings recorded may be higher or lower than the ones mentioned.

Highest approval rating ever

Believe it or not this is actually an honor held by George W. Bush. His approval rating was this high around the time of the 9-11 terrorist attacks because people approved of the way he dealt with the situation. At the time about 90% of Americans approved of the job he was doing.

Lowest approval rating ever

The lowest approval rating recorded is that of Harry Truman. His approval rating sank to 22% making it the lowest recorded by Gallup. This was probably due to unpopular decisions made during World War II.

Highest average approval rating

John Kennedy had the highest average approval rate of 70.1%.

Lowest average approval rating

Harry Truman had the lowest average approval rating of 45.4% This was once again probably due to unpopular decisions that he made during World War II

How these compare to Obama’s

According to www.rasmussenreports.com Obama’s approval rating is currently about 43%. The current low of his presidency is also around 43%. The highest approval rating he has achieved is 65%. His average approval rating cannot be determined yet because he hasn’t finished his term yet. According to his approval rating he has been doing an average job.

I am sorry, but your generalization and the end is completely wrong: “According to his approval rating he has been doing an average job.” What is wrong is that you are saying he has around a 45% approval rating, but you also said the lowest approval rating was Truman with a 45.4%. How can Obama be doing an average job with close to the worst approval rating of all time?

You are bias throughout this article when you say “Believe it or not, Bush had the highest approval rating.” It is easy to see you are a true Liberal, and you should not let that show in your work. You are trying to make Obama seem as if he is doing a better job than he really is doing.

Finally, as I said before, you are clearly a Liberal, and because of that, you do not like Bush. Everyone says how he was a terrible president, but if you compare the approval rating of Obama and Bush at this approximately this time in office, Bush had about 38% more approval than Obama. So suck on that fact, and at the end of this term, we will see how the approval lies. And if Obama is somehow reelected, his average approval will fall vastly short of Truman’s–hands down.
