Postal Service Changes
Changes to the postal service effects on the public.
Another agency that is supported by the government is in trouble. Once the postal service was a part of the government, but it was losing money so it went to the private sector. The intelligent people in charge lost more money and now they are looking for a way to save money.
The first thing they should do is get rid of the people in charge who lost the money in the first place. I think, like many others, that they have skimmed off the money and now want the government and the American people to pay more.
Here are their soultions so far as i have been able to ascetain: Concolidate sorting centers, close rural post offices and lay off non esential personel. (That should be the postmasters)
How will it effect the American public; Slower mail service, longer waits in line at the post office, more miles to drive for rural communities.
Now that said, so what. The small towns that have a post office don’t have much to do as it is. With the schrinking population in the rural areas the volume of business does not support the service.
With the internet that most homes have available they can order stamps, pick ups, and do on line what they did in the post office. you just won’t see the sweet little lady to talk with and get the local gossip. Go to church they have the same gossip.
I can’t remember the last time I got a letter in the mail from someone other than a sales pitch. I still get Christmas cards, birthday cards and such, but even those are coming more on line.
We live in a time of instant want, Fast food, Fast service, Fast living. People don’t take the time they once did to sit sown a write letters. it is easier to go to a fast food chain then to cook, we want to be entertained by others instead of playing board games with the kids. We relie on others to keep and entertain our children.
I am not against the changes of the postal service, I just wish when they decide to close the post offices they don’t close mind.
