Pot Luck – Christmas of The Heart
Bringing the world a christmas.
Christmas is almost upon us for many a time of good food and family enjoying a special time – A time for giving and forgiving. There are many in the world that through no fault of their own will not have a Christmas, instead they will be struggling to survive just living day to day.
In Africa the fight still goes on with Aids, famine also invades this continent daily killing thousands, the very young and old particularly vulnerable – they have one thing in common, an early death something we could do more to prevent.
Once place in particular though highlights the world’s apathy, even though there is some help there is not enough and cholera claims more lives after a disaster that should have had more aid.
It has been more than a year now since the earthquake in Haiti and yet the devastation is all around, lack of sanitation. The United Nations has a force in the country doing what they can, shackled by red tape and a growing anger from the Haitians.
Has the world forgotten them as it does with so many disasters once it has fallen from the front pages of the world’s press? It is a country, which is not far from one of the biggest and richest nations in the world the USA, but they cannot be the only ones that should help. All of Europe should shoulder some of the burden as should so many others – even in times of recession and problems in their own countries all the nations have a responsibility in this global village to contribute.
So when you settle down with your loved ones during this festive season, don’t close your mind and hearts to the rest of the world – one Dollar, one Pound, one Euro, for each of you sat around the table and given to Haiti will make an enormous difference, give it with love and it will enrich your own life.
