Raymond Davis Released

Raymond Davis has been released. How and why?

Finally it happened what was expected; Raymond Davis has been released. The suspected CIA agent in Pakistan on some top secret mission was arrested on the spot after killing two Pakistani men named Faheem and Faizan. A part from the reasons of killings, it is quite evincible that Pakistani government and its supreme intelligence agency ‘ISI’ played a key role in the deal between the American government and families of murdered men. It also proves that U.S has strong ties not with the Pakistani intelligence agencies but also has influence in the Pakistan’s internal matters. There are reports that the families of the murdered Pakistanis have been paid heavy amounts as ‘blood money’ along with the offers of U.S visas. This creates a lot of doubts in the minds of Pakistani masses as the way all this drama was staged; it gives birth to plenty of questions making the decision of the court intriguing. The families of murdered Pakistani men disappeared suddenly from their homes two days ago without even telling their closest relatives and neighbors. All the eighteen members of the families of the men who were murdered appeared in the court with the statement that they have accepted the offer of approximately 2.34 million dollars as blood money hence resulting in release of Raymond Davis. The court accepted their statements without further inquiries and ordered to fine Raymond Davis with little over 350 US$ for carrying prohibited and unlicensed weapons. This really puts a question mark on Pakistan’s judicial system where people have to wait for decades for the court’s verdict on minute cases and a foreigner who has been charged with two murders is freed within months. It also proves that Pakistani officials can not stand before the U.S pressure even if their citizens are slaughtered on roads. Another important thing is that the release of Raymond Davis has been made possible with the mutual co-operation of Pakistani Army, ISI, Federal government and their strong opponents Pakistan Muslim League (N) who are ruling party in Punjab province where the incident took place. Complete silence from all the power players in the country and almost similar statements from federal government and Punjab government clearly exhibits that a deal has been made using all the sources involving pressurizing the families of murdered men. One thing that has been completely ignored by the Pakistani officials is the killing of the third Pakistani by the U.S diplomatic vehicle which came for the assistance of troubled Raymond David and his companion. No one seems to take interest in his death as the game is over now.
