Secret Agents Raid Apple!
by The US Secret Service raided the home of an artist that supposedly collected images from webcams scattered around in a New York Apple store.
The suspect:
Kyle McDonald.
What has he done:
He is said to have installed some kind of software into the laptops found on the Apple store that captured people’s face whenever they were looking at the laptops. The pictures were then uploaded to the website Tumblr.
Mr McDonald has supposedly obtained the authorisation of a security guard to take the photos inside the store.
As usual, Apple has declined to comment. The Secret Service confirmed that its specialised division in electronic crime was involved and taking action, as this was a direct violation of the US CODE Title 18 /1030.
With a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, Kyle McDonald wrote on Twitter: “@secretservice just stopped by to investigate and took my laptop. Please assume they’re reading any e-mails you send me”.
Is it fair for us to be watched when we are not aware of? What about that old right to privacy?
On the other hand, it was only pictures, what harm can they do?
