10. Rhode Island-This little state rounds out the top 10 at 7% sales tax, plus the highest for cigarette tax. Income tax in Rhode Island can top out at 9%
9. Wisconsin- Wisconsin is not only loaded with cheese but taxes as well. Sales tax is 5%; income tax tops at 6.75% and Wisconsin is in the top five for high cigarette taxes.
8. Vermont-Want to vacation in Vermont? You’ll pay 9% lodging tax and restaurant tax and 10% on alcohol served in restaurants. Cigarette taxes are in the top 10 for highest taxes. The sales tax 6% and income tax ranges from 3.55%-9.4%

1. New Jersey-New Jersey’s sales tax is at 7% but food, clothing, footwear, prescription and non-prescription drugs are exempt. Income tax is as high as 8.97% and the state is third in highest cigarette taxes. New Jersey also has #3,#4, and #5 highest counties to live in: Hunterdon, Bergen and Somerset averaging $7000 in property taxes.

I don’t live in one of these states…thank goodness…the taxes are horrible…We get taxed on taxes!!!!! good article here.
