$10.6 billion – Department of Labour

That’s right. The least money of the 2008 federal budget went into the Interior and into Labour. The government shows equal apathy to it’s environment and to it’s working class. Congratulations America. It’s official: You care more about blowing up poor, broken, desert countries because of their religion and their oil than you do about your own people and land. That’s what the numbers are saying in big, bright red letters. But now you’re shouting “No! No, Carl, we’re not all like that. There are plenty of people who oppose the war and are pro-environment and want more attention on the health care problems of our country.” Well if that’s the case why are you shouting at me? If you’re really there then why haven’t I been hearing you? Why are you taking this crap from out of touch old business men who call themselves politicians!

All it takes for evil to triumph is good men to do nothing.

• $34.3 billion – Department of Homeland Security
• $24.3 billion – Department of Energy
• $20.2 billion – Department of Justice

• $12.1 billion – Department of Transportation
• $12.1 billion – Department of the Treasury
• $10.6 billion – Department of the Interior

• $51.8 billion – Other On-budget Discretionary Spending
• $39.0 billion – Other Off-budget Discretionary Spending

*I have not included the large amount of budget that are considered “mandatory” for the government to spend on. Only those in which they had complete control over expenditure. The others aren’t so relevant.
