2012- The End of The World Date or The Next Bluff of The Fortunetelling Industry

Lately a lot has been discussed about this ominous date 21 st of  December 2012.Both scientists and fortune-tellers warn us that this date will be decisive for the survival of the whole mankind.One of the first warnings we receive is from the Mayan civilization.The Mayans developed a highly sophisticated calenders which rivaled later developed Gregorian calendar.The whole Mayan calendar was divided into so called planetary cycles which lasted for thousands of years.According to the Mayan calendar their civilization began at about 3000 BC, which was the start of a major astronomical and planetary cycle.Scientists think that around this date a major shift in the earth’s climate occurred.As a proof of this statement, they point the state of the  glaciers in the Andes.When these glaciers were closely inspected it became clear that 5000 years ago they were much smaller in size and parts of the Andes, that are now covered in snow were free of ice.These facts led scientists to believe that it was possible that some major catastrophic event will occur on the 21 th of December 2012.Another curious fact is that nearly all ancient civilization came into being around the date 3000 BC-for example the ancient Egyptian civilization,the cities in Mesopotamia, the ancient Chinese civilization and so on.This hardly is a mere coincidence.There are also some evidence from the scientists that on this date a major disaster could happen with our sun.it is well known that the sun’s activity varies every year and reaches its minimum or maximum every 11 years.The unusual thing however is that the next maximum which will occur on the 21 st of December 2012 will be severe enough to inflict a major damages to our satellites and communications.There is a strong probability that these sun storms will fry all our electric grids and electrical devices leaving us literally in the Dark Ages.That is the worst case scenario, but we must be prepared for it.And that is not all, recently scientists found out that the Earth’s magnetic field the main protection of our planet against the deadly solar wind.This weakening of the field main be the signal of the magnetic poles shifting.in that case the Earth’s magnetic poles change their positions-the North pole becomes the South and vice versa.This pole shifting has happened many times before in the course of the Earth history, but at that time there were no humans walking the Earth.Of course all of these may not happen at all but we must be aware and take all the necessary measures to survive these possible disasters.
