2Pac The Final Years Film Documentary of Tupac Shakur to be Released Soon

The controversial rapper 2Pac or Tupac Shakur who was murdered in 1996 is to have a film about the last days of his life released. Work on the film is due to start around October or November 2010 and director Antoine Fuqua who worked on ‘Training Day’ has listed two top screenwriters to begin work on a script for the film that will primarily centre around the final days of his life. The screenwriters have been told to centre on a certain portion of his life rather than his whole life therefore it will not be a biopic but more of a documentary style film.

Born in Harlem in 1971 Tupac grew up around hard core violence and ghetto struggle existence. His mother and father were active members of the Black Panthers but even from an early age Tupac felt there was more to life than violence and hatred and begun to study ballet, Shakespearean plays, acting and ultimately music.

The film is to focus on his final four years and in particular on his last few days up until his death on September 7, 1996 after he had attended a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. It is expected that the movie will portray a more peace loving, anti-gangster persona that Tupac did at times embrace. It will highlight that he was not a thug and did not live the thug life more the fact that those around him were the thugs.

No cast has been set yet for the film but director Fuqua is expected to get an unknown to play the part of Tupac as happened in the film ‘Notorious’ the biopic of  the Notorious B.I.G. who himself was shot dead in 1997.

Tupac was shot five times in 1994 but survived and the day after attended a court verdict hearing that would see him jailed for 18 months although he was released after 11 months after a gang rape case he was involved in allegedly at a hotel.

Nobody has ever been arrested for his murder in 1996 when a white sedan drove up alongside him and pelted him with bullets although some theories pinpoint Biggie and The Crips gang as having some involvement. Either way the long awaited movie should be released around early 2011.
