A Brief Chronology Of Brazilian History

Beginning with the colonial era:

1500- Brazil was by a man called Pedro Cabral, whom was a Portuguese navigator.
1532- This was the year that was known for the first permanent Portuguese settlement.
1565- The year of founding of Rio de Janeiro(nice vacation spot).
1580-1640- Spain took domination of Portugal and Brazil.
1624-54- The Dutch took control of northeastern Brazil.
1788-92- The period of the Inconfidencia (otherwise known as Conjuracao) Mineira.

The Brazilian Empire
1822- The Declaration of Independence and also the coronation of Pedro The First.
1825-27- War broke out between Argentina and southeastern Brazil, which in the end resulted in the creation of Uruguay as an independent nation.
1831- The abdication of Pedro The First.
1835-45- The War of the Farrapos.
1840- The Coronation of Pedro The Second.
1850-52- War broke out between Uruguay and Argentina.
1864-70- War broke out between Uruguay and Paraguay.
1888- The abolition of slavery took place.
