Abe Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum
If you are around Springfield, Illinois, this is a great location to learn about Lincoln history and also Illinois history.
If you have ever wanted to see presidential history dating back to one of our nation’s first president’s, Springfield, Illinois at the Abe Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is the place to visit.
Springfield offers many tourist attractions, with most open year round, but the Able Lincoln Museum is truly a great history attraction for nearly all ages.
Visitors to the Museum are able to walk around at their own pace and see all of the history and artifacts from the Lincoln family and also items from his presidency. There is an area in the Museum referred to as Mrs. Lincoln’s Attic for younger children to participate in hands-on activities such as cooking a meal, trying on Lincoln’s clothes, rearranging furniture, and many other activities. The Union Theater inside the Museum shows two short movies (each lasting approximately 15 minutes) about Lincoln’s life.
The Abe Lincoln Presidential Library is a great place to visit for those interested in learning more about Illinois history, and also more information on the Lincoln family and Abraham Lincoln’s term as President.
A lot of people studying history, whether it be college students or people around in the early 1900’s visit the Lincoln Library to learn about Abe Lincoln’s philosophy as a leader, how he carried out business, to find more information about his family, and anything else related to Lincoln. People also spend time at the Library to find out about Illinois history in general and see information about how Illinois was first originated.
The Abe Lincoln Museum is open daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., while the Lincoln Library is open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and closed Saturday and Sunday. Both locations are closed during major holidays throughout the year.
