Americas True Independence Was by 1760
The information from Daniel J Boorstin’s "The Americans" suggests that America was completely independent by 1760.
England had an iron-tight grip on the American colonies when they were first founded. The Americans truly relied on the English for protection. Once America had adults that had completely grown-up in America then they truly started becoming “American.” These Americans had their own way of thinking and surviving that the founders of the colonies did not. The founders had thoughts of England in their head that the first American generation did not. America had its own way of informing the people that showed how they told the people the truth. Along with that truth was the fact that there was no illusion of freedom. They truly did have as much freedom as they wanted. Lastly America had people that were not as judging as England was. In England it was all about your social class. In America there were no social classes that anyone could be defined in. America had everyone working together to make their country better. People had multiple jobs that needed to be done in order to combat the daily activities. All of these reasons show that America was slowly slipping out of England’s grasp. By 1760 America had set up its own ways of life, and was on their feet. America did not need the English to baby them through their everyday lives anymore. America was ready to be its own independent nation, and thought of claiming that status started arising.
