Ap Us History Chapter Two, Three and Four Summaries

Some brief summaries of chapters two, three and four of The American Pageant 12th edition.

chapter 2.

English settlers traveled to the new world with dreams of getting rich on massive gold operations lake the Spaniards. Instead the English were met with violent natives disease and starvation. They were too focused on prospecting for gold that they didn’t spend time collecting food. The first try ended in a mysterious disappearance of all of one colonies inhabitants. others like Jamestown had high death tolls and difficult winters.

chapter 3.

The New England colonies focus more on religion they develop almost theocratic government. rather than build large plantations they collect fish build ships and cut down large amounts of timber they also tend livestock.

chapter 4.

Slavery started out simply as people working out the payment for their voyage over to the new land. as time went on the sugar plantations in the west indies who used large slave forces moved up to the Carolina’s and with them they brought  the slave contracts they used. slavery didn’t take on too fast Georgia was established with a dislike to slavery and a lot of the North Carolina  farms were too small to afford slaves.
