Arors and Aroras are very close in pronunciation. It is said that Arachosians were the ancestors of Aroras. Arachsians, in view of the scholars, were a section of the Aryans. They slowly settled somewhere in the valleys of the Indus. The place is now in Pakistan and is known as Sindh. Aror and Arora are words which have been transformed from ‘Arachosian’. Sukkur is a town in the modern Sindh. In old days Aror was somewhere near to Sukkur and Aror had a status of a capital.

You will find the origin of the Arors in the Indian subcontinent. But Parasuram’s role must not be put into oblivion. Parasuram is a legendary figure and his stories have been described in the epics of the ancient India. He was a sage and he was also a warrior. He was born in a Kshatriya family, but he raised himself to the status of a Brahmin by austere meditation. He was famous for his axe and he had used this weapon twenty one times in order to slaughter the Kshatriyas. The Aroras of Arors were most probably Kshatriyas of the time. It is said that this section of the Aryans were driven away from their earlier settlements by Parasuram. Multan (now in Pakistan) became their next place which in course of time was known as Arorkot or Aror. They had to quit this place too. A sage with the leanings in the Sufism hurled a curse on them and they left Aror towards west and south and north in quest of a new destination.

Muhammad bin Qasim

Aror was the capital of Sindh and was a vibrant town with trade and commercial activities. Dahir was sometimes its ruler. Muhammad bin Qasim ruled here during the early eighth century. He transferred the capital to Mansura. At present Aror has lost its old glory. Aror is a small village and an uncared village just to the east of the Indus.

Arors and Aroras settled mainly in Punjab. When Ranjit Singh was the ruler of Punjab, Aroras were in Amritsar, the present state capital of Punjab in India. Arorianwali Gali is the name of a street in Amritsar even today.  They shifted to India after India had won independence in 1947. Arors or Aroras can speak in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu and of course in Sindhi. They are very hardy and sincere.They share Hinduism, Sikhism and Islam. Males among them are very handsome and females are pretty. They have keen interest in business and also in warfare. One Jagjit Singh Arora was the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
