Battle Born Days 2012: Carson City, NV
This is a salute to America’s military,…past, present, and future and will encompass honoring all services from all wars and peace time, with static displays, living history re-enactments, tributes and military honors, equipment, weapons, and vehicle displays, and all the military related exhibits from the past 235 years.

Nevada became a state and joined the Union on October 31, 1864 in the heat of the American Civil War, hence the State nickname “Battle Born”. In October 2012, the State of Nevada will celebrate its 147th birthday, and in typical Nevada fashion will celebrate with the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City on Saturday, October 27, 2012. This year’s festivities will include “Battle Born Days 2012”, a non-profit event honoring the United States military, past and present, as well as those that have or do continue to serve.
Battle Born Days is a unique event, which will be held in Mills Park in Carson City, Nevada’s capitol from October 25-28, 2012. Each June, this park hosts the Carson City Rendezvous, a tribute to the Mountain Men, Explorers, Pioneers, Soldiers and others that settled this great state. The organizers of the Rendezvous, NV Shows, is working with Carson City non-profit organization Battle Born Civil War Reenactors(BBCWR), a living history group that holds American Civil War reenactments throughout Northern Nevada and California. Battle Born Days is the brainchild of BBCWR President Harry Ehrman III, a living historian that has hosted and managed multiple Civil War reenactments throughout the area. An admirer of the nation’s military, Mr. Ehrman wanted to expand the focus of local living history events to encompass all eras of the United States military. After discussing the project with Rich Crombie of NV Shows and getting the blessing of Carson City’s Mayor Robert Crowell, all agreed that the project was viable and should be put on.

Activities surrounding this year’s event will be numerous. In addition to the Nevada Day Parade and the Nevada Day Carnival which will also be held in Mills Park, multiple family friendly activities and displays will be held to showcase the military and those who have served. The following is a summary of events and activities that will occur during Battle Born Days.
VIETNAM TRAVELING WALL
An 80% replica of the Vietam Wall in Washington, DC has been scheduled to attend this event. For those that have not experienced the “Wall” in DC, this replica is the next best thing. The American Veterans Traveling Tribute(AVTT) will visit Carson City specifically for this event. One is overcome by a solemn feeling as you read through the names of services persons killed or Missing in Action during the Vietnam conflict (1955-1975). This is an excellent opportunity to honor those that served in this conflict and many will find the names of friends and family members listed on this memorial. The traveling wall will be escorted by local motorcycle riders and other groups on Wednesday and will have an honor guard 24 hours per day at the event by local Viet Nam veterans.
