Former President George W. Bush was forced to scrap a planned trip to Geneva  to  speak at a Jewish Charity party amid calls from several human rights group who believe he should be arrested and investigated for alleged mistreatment of suspected militants at Guantanamo Bay ( torture).

Bush was to be the keynote speaker at an annul dinner held by Keren Hayesod on February 12, in Geneva.  The planned event  was cancel  as  pressure from groups like Amnesty International and the Center for Constitutional Rights  called for the former Presidents to be arrested and investigated for human rights violations.

These groups argue that Switzerland has an obligation as a part of the UN convention against torture to investigate and prosecute Bush if need be.  George Bush has admitted to ordering the use of water boarding which is considered a form of torture under international law.

In his recent memoirs Bush defended the use of water boarding saying it prevented another 9/11 from happening to the United States. A statement was released by the Bush’s stating the reason for the cancellation of the trip had nothing to do with Bushes worrying about being prosecuted, it was the threat of protest that lead the former President to cancel the trip.
