Tom Hanks’ latest movie is a treat and academy awards worthy.
Captain Philips is a Hollywood biopic done right. It captures surrealism along with dramatic intense flair. Some of these things are very hard to come by these days.
A short synopsis: “the film focuses on the relationship between the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips, and the Somali pirate captain, Muse, who takes him hostage. Phillips and Muse are set on an unstoppable collision course when Muse and his crew target Phillips’ unarmed ship’.
An epic struggle ensures and you will be glued to the screen until it is all over. You will feel awful for both the protagonists and antagonists as there are no winners in this struggle. Much like the booty the pirates are trying to seize, the audience will find empathy to draw themselves further away from the main arc and more into the characterization and the people who caught in the dreadful crossfire.
Tom Hanks does it again and I cannot highly recommend anymore than by saying possible “best picture of the year”
