An accurate timeline of the Events in China in the 1900’s.

1893 – Mao Ze Dong is born
1905 – Sun Yat Sen starts up the GMD
1908 – Pu Yi becomes emperor after Empress Cixi’s death at the age of 2
1911 – Double Tenth Rebellion begins in Wuchang
1912 – Constituent Assembly set up with Yuan Shikai as president
1915 – The 21 Demands are agreed to by Yuan Shikai, against public opinion
1916 – Death of Yuan Shikai
1919 – May 4th Movement begins
1921 – The CCP is started up by Mao, the 1st United Front is formed between the CCP and the GMD
1925 – Death of Sun Yat Sen, Chiang Kaishek takes over the party leader role for the GMD
1926 – The Northern Expedition begins
1927 – The Shanghai Massacre takes place
1932 – Pu Yi becomes Emperor of Manchuria
1934 – Beginning of the Long March
1935 – End of the Long March
1936 – Chiang Kaishek kidnapped in the Xian incident and the subsequent formation of the 2nd United Front
1937 – Nanjing Massacre
1948 – Battle of Huai – Hai won by the Communists and the GMD flee to Taiwan
1949 – Formation of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC)
1950 – Treaty of Friendship, Alliance and Mutual Assistance signed by Russia and China
1953 – 1st Five Year Plan implemented
1956 – The beginning of the 100 Flower Campaign
1958 – 2nd Five Year Plan implemented, also known as the Great Leap Forward
1966 – Beginning of the Cultural Revolution
1976 – Mao Zedong dies, marking the beginning of the New Historical Period
1978 – Cultural Revolution officially over
1980 – The Gang of Four put on trial
1987 – The beginning of the Democracy Movement in China
1989 – Tian An Men square Massacre
