In response to the title of this article, you’re darn right they do. Every leader in our history has had to take drastic risks according to what the ultimate stakes were. Some of these risks were anticipated and the outcome was favorable while other proved to be a bit on the reckless side.  The key to duplicating these successes is to evaluate all your data inputs and opt for a course of action which would hopefully lead to a amendable outcome.

President Franklin Roosevelt observed that it was only a matter of common sense for someone to take one specific method and attempt to try it. If your selected method happens to fail then readily admit your mistake. This is a vital trait for a competent leader. Know when to admit you erred. The pointy to be made here is that you must do something as a leader.

This type of attitude is exceptionally essential when you are in a survival atmosphere. The mere act of doing nothing out of fear for failing tends to result in not only inaction on your part, but could greatly result in failure of the program completely.

When in a survival leadership situation one has to let the natural tendency for self-preservation take precedence. While at our retreat we have to remember that above all else we must make the necessary decisions that would be beneficial for our survival. Without that special will to continue we are sure to be hopelessly lost.

It is possible to cultivation an attitude aimed towards achieving these goals if we direct our thoughts towards the ultimate goal. Indeed, the ideal ambition would be to avoid the troubles associated with the turmoil of the times but we can not compromise being strong and accepting any challenges that may come our way. This friend is the simple recipe for surviving when having to bug out.

Shed any ambitions you may have about giving up and dedicate yourself to seeking a new life with the few friends and relatives that you may have at hand. In order to get through the upcoming new world that may be presented to us with nominal amount of disturbing troubles you must take the role of leader in a serious and stable manner. Anyone is capable of dodging through a meager life in the wild if necessary, but you as the chosen leader must instill courage and faith in the future.

As soon as a man starts to enlarge his abilities to lead others his talents become multiplied and the job actually becomes simpler. So in response to the question posed above – yes leaders take all sorts and manner of risks. They choose objectives that are clear and manageable. They see success as they view their goals being accomplished one by one.

You too should be the risk taker type of leader if you and your small group of survivalists wish to be successful.
