Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – Cheater for The Right Reasons?
A cheater for the right reasons? Can his fight for the rights of blacks make up for his past?
When I hear MLK JR.’s name I think of how great of a man he was and would be if only James Earl Ray did not shoot him.
Moving on to the details, Martin Luther King Jr. was said to have cheated on his wife and had plagiarized on numerous accounts. In fact it is said that his, “I have a Dream…” speech was almost all plagiarized! This makes me think of the affect this might have on a great mans reputation.
First of all we must start at the beginning (you can skip down and read the main points of the article below), well almost, Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929 and died 39 short years later on April 4, 1968. He was officially born Michael Luther King, Jr., but changed it to the iconic “Martin” Luther King Jr. He graduated high school at the age of 15 and went to a prestigious college for black students, Morehouse College. He soon got his B.D. in 1951 from theological research and was voted president in a pre-dominate white school at the same time he had been acting as a co-pastor for his grandfather’s church after his father’s death. He gained fame when he became open on civil rights through the Montgomery Boycott, it was all history from there.
CHEATER?
J. Edgar Hoover was notorious of finding communists in America and did what ever he could to rule them out, after all he was the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Whoever seemed up and open about fighting for civil rights or anything of the sort, was presented as a communist. He tapped all of MLK, Jr.’s phone lines and did so everywhere Martin Luther King, Jr. went. For example, one time he went too far, Martin Luther King, Jr. was in a hotel room and apparent to the cause of the FBI, they tapped his room. They recorded everything that went on in there and had presumably recorded extra-marital affairs. His close friend wrote a book on him and stated he did cheat but at the same time others say it is rumour just like any other lie on celebrities. What do you think?
PLAGIARIZER?
There was a lot of speculations that MLK Jr. was a plagiarizer but it wasn’t until November 9, 1990 that a major American media outlet released a story on his plagiarism. There was a lot of fights over this situation and many people thought different. Even till now many people believe his work is authentic. In some documentaries, the guest are open about his work and state that MLK, Jr. cited work from Karl Marx, Gandhi, and even the Bible, in which MLK, Jr. memorized all of the writings. It just shows that good guys are always targeted, we must think did he plagiarize or did he not. Oh, and one more thing, people say that he was expelled from college for plagiarizing but what do you think? Is this all conspiracy or the imperfections of a great man who was not perfect.
