Declaration of Independence
Historian Richard B. Morris states The Declaration of Independence served as a model and Inspiration to people around the world. To be spread to other nations, it was translated into several different languages. Though some words and phrases were changed, the main idea and points got through. In the Austrian Low Countries, the Declaration had an impact by the Belgian people starting their own revolution and each region declaring independence. Flanders even used words from the Declaration of Independence.
After the Turks defeated Greece in a revolution in 1821, the Greeks mentioned that the Americans who first stated “those rights to which all are by nature equally entitled.” The Greeks eventually made their own form of the Declaration of Independence. Richard Cleveland and William Shaler on a voyage, stopped at Valparaiso and met some Chileans who knew independence was near. They had a Spanish translation of the Declaration in every Latin American state to revolt against Spain and Portugal.
The Declaration of Independence was huge worldwide. It showed other countries that they could revolutionize against governing countries and be free. It gave them hope and showed that everybody has their own rights and was created equally. It wasn’t just a document with words written on it, it was a world changing experience for countries around the world.
