The first lady of the United States Michelle Obama accompanied her husband the U.S President Barack Obama on their first state visit to the United Kingdom.  

The state visit was indeed a success for Barack and Michelle except for tow little quite embarrassing incidents.

The first incident was the little gaffe President Obama made by signing the distinguished visitors’ book with the wrong year. He had asked the Dean of Westminster what the day’s date was, but then went ahead to date his entry May 24, 2008, instead of 2011.

The second embarrassing moment happened on the lawns of Buckingham Palace when strong winds cause First Lady, Michelle Obama’s skirt to lift up thereby exposing her thighs and underwear to the general public. She tried desperately to clutch onto her dress to prevent the wind from lifting it up but in vain.

The Obamas were at the Buckingham Palace Gardens where royal salutes were given and the American national anthem played in honor of Barack Obama.

The weather was indeed wild during the ceremony at the Buckingham palace that the Queen also received her fair share of the embarrassment caused by the weather as the strong winds threatened to carry her hat away.

Besides these minor incidents, it was all in all a very successful trip for Barack Obama and wife Michelle.

The historic visit is only the third state visit by a United States president to the United Kingdom in 100 years.
