Evacuated During the World War Two
As bombing raids that attacked cities in Britain continuously, increased during World War II, many civilians were injured especially children. Children were separated from their families and thus sent to live in the country side.
On the first four days of September 1939 about 3,000.000 people were transported from towns and cities into the countryside. Most of them were schoolchildren Parents allowed their children to be taken away from them because of the number of civilian casualties predicted (About 4000000 in London Alone.) and so seeing the danger in them not being take away. Almost all of these children were evacuated by train. All the children were usually given a gas mask, some food and a change of clothing.
But there were many problems to this, starting with people reaching wrong destinations, rationing of food and not enough homes for the children to move into.
The children were picked upon the hosts’ choice .There was also the problem of evacuating hospitals in the cities and not knowing where to take the patients.
There were different results to the evacuation of these people. Some results were good and others bad. Some people who were given love and kindness in their temporary new homes had with them happy memories, whilst others who were treated cruelly and abused had unhappy memories with them.
I think if I were in the position of one of these children I would be curious at first if I didn’t know where I was going without my parents, but if I knew why I was being taken away I would be very upset and sad to part with my parents, During my stay in the countryside I would be not too happy or not too sad if I was treated nicely but I would still terribly miss my parents. If I was treated badly I would fell terrible all the time and miss my parents even more. I think it was right of the children’s parents to send them away but I can’t imagine how hard it would be to part with a family member for an unknown time. I am also very, very much against people who treated the children badly as this (war) was a time when everyone had to cooperate to achieve the best results.

i agree with the comment at the bottom it was a time of war so everyone should have been treated with care and love because you never know when yo are gong to lose a family member or even die yourself from the cruelty of your temporary time parents.
people who treated children with bad care should be ashamed because how would they like it if they were taken away from their parents and had to be living with someone soo cruel and unkind.
who didnt give them enough food or a basic place to sleep or even something to sleep on.
furthermore i think that the people who did get treated well should thank their temporary parents for looking after them and hoping that one day when everything gets better they could do something in return.
