Fighting a Just Cause
The war on Vietnam.
Was not happy about France’s doings and he demanded for a declaration for Vietnam and its neighbors like: Laos and Cambodia. We kept sending troops to the French as long as they promised to let the Vietnamese people elect their own government, and we could keep our good alliance with France.
To stop communism from spreading around Vietnam and its surrounding neighbors they had to get involved in the Vietnam War. If communism had spread this would have started a chain reaction, and causing everyone to convert to communism. With communism playing sucThere are plenty of reasons why America was involved in the Vietnam War. For example, if America had retreated no other nation would have the confidence to believe in them again. Also, America was against communism, and did not want it spreading towards Vietnam. However, America has also promised to protect that small nation called Vietnam. Without keeping their promise, America would be abandoning their responsibility as a nation to do what they have to do. If America did not go into war they would be letting other countries down, North Vietnam would gain control of power in the South, and they would not be keeping their promise as a nation to help protect Vietnam.
There is one nation in particular that would not be able to believe in America again. The French was that one nation that needed help in Vietnam. That was originally why we were in Vietnam, to help support the French. The French had been in Vietnam since 1847, and they were trying to get colonial rule over Vietnam. Eventually France had colonized Vietnam, but they were still getting attacked by the Vietnamese people. Our president Truman h a huge role in the Vietnam War you could not ignore that the whole war was because of communism. If communism had spread like the North Vietnam had wanted it to, then we would be in trouble. The only reason why we stayed was because of Vietnam, and to stop spreading their influence. With this said the war started to escalate to higher and higher number of troops dying on both sides of the conflict. The Vietcong, or the foes of America, were very battle-hardened and used guerilla warfare to get the upper hand. With that said, communism can be a terrible thing and ultimately cause death. This was all needed though to help our fellow comrades.
America had promised to help Vietnam in anyway they could. We gave them sent troops to aid in the battle, and to help regain possession of Vietnam. We also sent ammunition and supplies to the South Vietnamese people to help aid the war for them. We had sent over 400,000-500,000 troops to help the Vietnamese people fend off North Vietnam, and stop communism from spreading. We had many different strategically planned methods to defeat the North Vietnamese people. With all this support we were able to fulfill our duty as a nation to help protect this country we call Vietnam. With all the support we had given South Vietnam, America still had other reasons why they were still fighting in Vietnam.
There also reasons why America fought were because of the problems that America in itself had. Many Asian gangs started to appear because of this conflict with America and Vietnam. This happens because many Asian Americans feel that they do not belong part of this country. Thus trying to share their emotions with other fellow Asian Americans, and start to have ideas about making or joining a gang. Or they feel they are victims of prejudice or discrimination, and decide to join a gang. By joining a gang they feel that they have earned some respect, and feel that the gang is their “real” family. To stop this from happening this is why we came into Vietnam, to stop the violence, and to end the war.
If America had not fought in the Vietnam War what would have happened? North Vietnam would have taken over easily, and they would have spread communism around the world, and that’s what we didn’t want to happen. If America had just sat there and did nothing communism would be a popular thing by now and the idea of spreading communism around wouldn’t sound like such a bad thing. If we did not fight Vietnam would be united by the North, and they would takeover Thailand, then Malaysia, and then Singapore. Whilst not being faced by an opponent the communistic Vietnam would have be given a huge boost, and the citizens would see that nothing can stand in the way of communism. The citizens would then feel satisfied or encouraged that communism could really work. This could lead to more violence the Vietnam War itself, and cause destruction on many people’s lives. All of the surrounding countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia would have been ruled by the communistic Vietnam. We would have been faced with many opponents if America had not fought in the Vietnam War. With this said if we had not faced Northern Vietnam head on with our ally Southern Vietnam, the war could have drastically been worse rather than fighting them.
These are many of the reasons why America had fought in the Vietnam War, and continue to find it be a just cause to fight. Northern Vietnam was too dangerous to be left alone, and could have spread communism around the world. With communism being spread around the world it could have been terribly dangerous for other countries to lose their freedom. America has also finished its responsibility as a nation to help Vietnam, and give them financial or military aid however they can. Also we would lose the confidence of other nations to believe in us, and give us aid when we will need it. Fighting this war was the best the choice we had to stop communism in its tracks, and to continue living a peaceful life.
