Five Explorers You Need to Know About
These are five explorers whom I think everyone should know about.
In no particular order:
James Cook
Changed sailing forever, essentially cured scurvy, discovered thousands of new islands, people, plants, and animals on three major expeditions, ultra-precise cartographer, circumnavigated the globe almost 3 times, killed by angry Hawaiians

Ferdinand Magellan
Discovered Straight of Magellan, traveled through the Pacific, lead first voyage to travel around the world, braved many harsh storms, also killed by angry islanders

Lewis And Clark
Explored the Louisiana Purchase, learned about Native Americans, befriended Sacajawea, saw Pacific Ocean, traveled on the Mississippi, crossed the Rockies, other cool stuff

David Livingston
Spent years in the African interior, mapped tons of Africa, learned much about tons of different peoples, found by Stanley, had some crazy experiences with slavery, changed the world’s knowledge of Africa

Christopher Columbus
Discovered the New World (America), named Indians wrong, spread disease all over the place, had three ships, prevented a mutiny, fought some other indigenous peoples.
