Freedom is Not Free

Whether we fought overseas, or on our own soil, the price of freedom is priceless, with the loss of life in the hundreds and thousands.

After reading about our great nation, and the wars it endured, on foreign soil as well as on our home land, I must say I am forever grateful to all the soldier and civilians who have died in the last two hundred years defending my rights, and giving me the opportunity to live is the United States of America.

It was one thing to read about the WWI and WWII, the Korean War as well as the Vietnam War, these were war-defending things going on throughout the world. Then I read about each and every one of our States, and how or what actions they took during the civil war, and I was blown away. It was hard to imagine the continent being split into two, the North and the South, with issues regarding slavery and how we broke away from England and the British rule. I read how some state became part of the “Union” and then they separated for a time, while other states fought hard to get accepted in the “Union”

It was awesome to read about Valley Forge Pennsylvania, and how hard George Washington fought, and then how sad it was that we lost so many soldier not to combat, but to frostbite and un-sanitary conditions. The conditions were horrible the water unhealthy, food started to become limited, and had to be rationed.

The war in Monmouth County NJ, and how Staten Island, along with the Verranzano-Narrows was so instrumental in protecting the north. How Rhode Island refused to accept anything from England, they had a strong military out there, to keep the English from coming in.

Then Hawaii had Pearl Harbor. Each of our fifty states have a lot of history, and the more I read the more I wanted to share with my Triond friends, as well as get the information out there in a very simple way to read, so children can understand.

So look for my different article regarding each state within this great Country.

I did Kansas recently, because I was rather interested since I have family there and I have visited as well; and I realized, I have seen all that there was to see in the very center of America. Kansas the heartland and I can honestly say:

“ I am proud to be an American”.
