George Washington Was a Great Leader But He Was Also a Common Library Book Defaulter
His omissions will have to cost the American Tax payers over $300K.

He was the founding father of the United States of America. His name shakes the waters at its very mention, yet this truly great man firmly embedded in the American and world history books, was also a common library book defaulter.
This may not have taken too much off his great human achievements, but the news this week that he has been Post-hummusly levied an inflation adjusted fine of $300,000 for two un returned library books he borrowed on 5th October 1789 from the The New York Society Library, was quite stunning if not hilarious.
The library records were well posted against George Washington’s name showing that he indeed, failed to return two books, namely, ” Laws of Nations” and Vol. 12 of ”Common Debates”. This Library crime on the part of the first American President was not effectively discovered until 1934, nearly 150 years later.
The whole world is watching very closely, what the American people will do about this un-dignifying omission on the part of their most exceptional leader. It is not clear to me if this discovery has squitted a bit of national shame onto the usually big national pride that the American people enjoy most of the time. May be Barrack Obama should quickly make amends and pay off the racked fine as soon as possible to wipe this little speck of embarrassment off the name of Mr. George Washington.

A very good post. Those of us who love books default a great deal, and sometimes we steal them.
