Gettysburg Address
Gettysburg Address.
The Gettysburg Address is an interpretation of the Declaration of Independence. The speech is about democracy. This speech was a short speech made by Lincoln. It was constructed to last and help develop the government for years that followed the speech. In this speech, Lincoln talks in broad terms. His speech is compared to Everett’s because instead of showing hatred and change, Lincoln tried to help others envision a brighter future toward the ideas laid out in the Declaration of independence. “A government of the people, by the people, for the people” is very symbolic. It states that the government should be run by the majority, run by the citizens of the United States, and that the government does what the people expect it to do. That is all what the Gettysburg Address is all about.
