Hiroshima: the Decision to Drop the Bomb
My point on how great an idea it was to drop the atomic bomb on japan ending the war be shure to comment.
It is 1945, the radio is turned on. President Truman is speaking about the current World War Two and says that the Battles won against Nazi Germany now must be won against the Empire of Japan. Over 12,500 U.S. Marines K.I.A. [killed in action], and a gruesome 38,000 injured at the small Japanese island of Okinawa . Japan is starting to have minuscule thoughts of surrendering. The war can continue and end with hundreds of thousands of more deaths each both on the United States side and the Japanese side as well. A new idea of a powerful weapon, a bomb that was supposed to end the war once and for all. Should the United states have dropped the atomic bomb on the two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Yes, the U.S. should have dropped the atomic bomb on both Japanese cities. The bomb that was dropped could save thousands even millions of new young lives being saved from the death of the war. The many survivors say that the bomb ended the war and rid the world of evil. Japan was also saved a enormous amount of civilian and soldier lives that would have been killed if the atomic bomb was not dropped on the country. The opposition from the movie Hiroshima: The Decision to drop the Bomb would say that “There was no use for the bomb to be dropped even in the first place”. That statement is lacking truth because the U.S. needed to find a new weapon of destruction and that needed to be tested. Also the Americans need to find a way to created this new weapon before the Axis powers developed it , even before the Russians. A other point the opposing would say that “The Manhattan project [atomic bomb] cost over two billion dollars to research and make, that could have gone to the war effort.” This point is not accurate because the development of the bomb gave the U.S. a huge advance in technology over any other country. This was the best investment that the United States spent their money on ,and that investment won one of the most horrifying wars of all time. Continuing this argument, if the Russians had developed a weapon like this during the war there is no knowing how far they would have went to eliminate their enemies and abusing of the weapon. For the best of the world and the sake of people the us being the first to develop the bomb was a great-leap forward.
