Hiroshima: the Decision to Drop the Bomb

A couple interviews form the movie said that the atomic weapon targeted an area with a concentrated amount of factories supplying the Imperial Army. If weapons and supplies are cut off to that army , the army will fall due to lack of food weapons excreta. Another point is that many will complain about death and casualties related to the bomb. What people do not take into consideration is that if the bomb had not of been dropped, the war would have continued costing time money and lives both of the U.S. and Japanese, and no one likes war. The Imperial Army showed no mercy to the U.S. P.O.W. , The Japanese did ruthless actions . Japan threatened the south east pacific and our states. If the Japanese had gone past Hawaii the safety of California might have been jeopardized. Last, the U.S. could not let Stalin, leader of Russia at the time, be involved and allied with the U.S. to take over at Japan. The United States wanted to support democracy and Russia represented communism. Stalin would have abused his powers and took over Japan excluding or even battling the U.S. if the bomb was not dropped.

Two months before the battle at Okinawa President Franklin D. Roosevelt died in office due to a terrible stroke. Vice president Hary Trueman took his place. Two weeks after being moved to presidency Trueman is informed of the atomic bomb, as stated by an interview from the class movie. His decision was to drop the bomb and that decision had make the world a better place. No person like war and Trueman brought the war to an end. At Hiroshima there was a total of over 140,000 deaths, also with destruction of many Imperial war factories, as stated by source 1 a wikipedia article. Next a total of 80,000 deaths at Nagasaki stated by source 1. The number of deaths would have increased if the bomb were not dropped both on Japanese and American side as well. A last point is that at the time the bombs were being dropped Stalin and his army were invading China to get to Japan. The bomb showed the capabilities if U.S. powers and knowing that Russia backed off. Stalin could have easily turned sides and made war with Americans if the war had continued longer.

Again the atomic bomb being dropped was one of the greatest investments in United States history . In conclusion lives were save , money was saved, and the goodness of world was back in order.

That is why the United States made great and very smart decision to drop the atomic bomb on cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
