Hiroshima: Was The Bombing Necessary?

Do you think the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were necessary? Were the atomic bombs dropped due to retaliation or were they dropped because President Harry Truman was just anxious to try the new inhumane weapon? Was it worth the deaths of over two hundred thousand innocent women and children? Was it worth it being the only country to ever use such a weapon? I disagree on this matter.

 Pearl Harbor is a harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. On December 7, 1941, Japanese navy aircrafts began the attack in Pearl Harbor, but these attacks were not a surprise. The Americans had deciphered Japans attack earlier, and knew about the planned attack. How ever they did not know the precise location of the attack. The loss of Pearl Harbor brought the U.S. into WWII.

The US chose to drop atomic bombs through retaliation and fierce revenge. The attack on Pearl Harbor was a massive loss for the US. Through retaliation, the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945 by a crew of B-29 bombers. The bomb directly killed an estimated 80,000 people. Through injuries and radiation, it killed a total of 140,000 people. Three days later another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing another 80,000 people.

 My opinion is that the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in retaliation was not necessary. What caused the United States to retaliate is the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was a military base. The bombing of Pearl Harbor should be between military conflicts. The United States bombing on the civilians was not the right form of vengeance.

Overall, dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a bad decision. By the making of the Atomic bomb by the United States, we have influenced many countries in creating these weapons of mass destruction. This world probably has enough weapons and power now to destroy all of humanity. This world can be destroyed in the use of Nuclear weapons. So please don’t support these dangerous weapons.
