Historical Individuals Leading to Major Change

Actions by certain individuals have led to major social, political and economic changes in the world.  Although not always positive actions or positive changes, they still effected the world.  Different individuals, for instance, Einstein from Germany, Pericles of Athens and Joan of Arc from Rouen, France all had actions and decisions that had major effects on the world.

    Einstein had major influences in the science world.  One major influence was on the ideas of the atomic bomb.  Because of Einstein’s warning to the president the US was one of the first to have an atomic bomb.  This bomb has caused many conflicts in the world.  Today, because of the atomic bomb we are a nuclear power, and the supposed creation of nuclear weapons of mass destruction is the reason why we are in Iraq.  Also, the atom bomb was a major threat during the cold war, which caused a race to be the most technologically advanced, and the atom bomb was at the top of the list of technology.  Another influence is he came up this an equivalence law between mass and energy.  In this law he replaced the old relevance of time into the speed of light in a vacuum.  This law E=mc² is one of the most widely know formulas in the world, and it has been used to do acceleration problems for aircrafts.  Without this formula we would have never made it to space.  We would all just be stuck on this planet and we would have never landed on the Earth’s moon.  Last of all, Einstein today is a role model for many people, inspiring them to do their best in science and to unlock the mysteries of the universe as he attempted.  Therefore, Einstein’s influences and actions have effected our world immensely.

    During Pericles’ rule of Athens, Athens was in its Golden Age.  Pericles helped this time of great achievements by fostering Athenian democracy.  Pericles chose this government because he stressed the importance of the individual.  This government ended up influencing the parliament in Britain.  Also, today the United States of America uses democracy allowing its people to elect representatives.  Pericles also considered the ideas of the philosophers Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.  Mainly their ideas of encouraging all citizens to make their own decisions with their won reasons, wanting them to be themselves.  Still today people go around being their own person, however sometimes powwowing trends.  Another accomplishment was that Pericles is that he built many projects, for example the Parthenon was a very architectural building that has inspired many and has influenced style in buildings like its dome.  Therefore, Pericles of the Greek polis, Athens, is an example of an individual who greatly affected history and the world today.

    Joan of Arc was a very strong woman of France who has greatly effected history and the world today.  This lady who heard voices in her head and who jumped out of a building and lived.  She is also the only person ever recorded to have commanded the entire army of a nation at the age of seventeen.  With this she is a role model for women everywhere, and that any woman can be as good as a man.  Another thing she did was say in battle even though she was wounded.  This is another things that all generals should look up to.  The fact that she continued with her attack even though she was hot by an arrow in the leg, that she even ended up just taking out of her.  One more example is that she caused a conflict in the world.  Having a battle is one of the most influential things to the past, present and future because there is an up and down side, the losers go down and the winners go up.  Last of all, Joan of Arc was declared a saint after her death and is forever remembered and many have created works about her and even video games today.  Hence, Joan of Arch was a major individual whose actions greatly effected the world’s history and the present world.

    With the creation of major impacting ideas and a determined and courageous general, Einstein, Pericles and Joan of Arc are all individuals whose actions have greatly effected the world in history and today.  Being able to change the world like that must be something.  And in the end it is weird to think that they will never know what kind of impacts they had on the world
