How the Cellphone Works

The cell phone is a very important digital device it allows people to interact with each other through communication, texting or email.

It was invented by Martin Cooper who worked for Motorola. The cell phone works by using cell towers to direct your call. A cell phone can also be used for GPS and emailing using special programs. The device is easy to use and most people in the world have it.

The Cell Phone

The cell phone (also know as a cellular telephone) is a short-wave device used to call people wirelessly from around the world. Most have an antenna transmitter at the top. They are used by 110 million Americans. A cell phone works by a tower called a cell which receives the signal and directs it to the destination. A cell is a station which gives the user coverage to use the cell phone. The cell communicates with the phone network through a cell network which connects users to the wired phone network. The cell covers a small land size that is a couple kilometers in diameter and has the cell site in the middle; a cell site is a radio receiver and transmitter station. The size varies from the number of people using the cell phone for ex. if more people use it then the cell size is smaller and if less people use it in the area then it will be bigger.

Martin Cooper

Martin Cooper was the inventor of the first cell phone. He was born in Chicago on Dec.26,1926. Cooper grew up in Chicago, he earned a degree in electrical engineering at the Illinois institute of technology. He served four years in the navy on the submarine. Then he was hired by Motorola in 1954 were he built portable products like the radio that the police used. After the idea of a mobile phone was introduced he invented the first cell phone in 1973 April. He made the first call to his rival of Bell labs Joe Engel who was also working on the same idea. The first cell phone was called the Motorola Dyna-Tac which weighed 2.5 pounds. For ten hours of charging the talking time was 35 minutes.

Life Without It

The cell enables people to talk to each other wherever they are. The cell phone was invented because it was much easier for people to talk to each other without going to their homes to call somebody or a pay phone. Cell phones can also monitor where people go by tracking where their signal is. If the cell phone wasn’t invented the world would be much quieter. The only way people could talk long distance was by going to their homes and calling. They would waste a lot of useful time were they could invent seomthing else. But on the good side less car accidents would have happened people wouldn’t be busy calling and busier on the road so they would pay more attention. Cell phone companies would not be in existence or cell phone manufacturers these jobs would be lost and they would have to take different jobs.
