Ideology or Myth: My Identity in History

Though history like other subjects taught in the colleges and universities yet very few minds opt for life long learning as this requires rigorous efforts to pursue its depth. Our attitude towards history and historian has remain sacred therefore without raising any critical argument we have accepted the ideas and things, and thus this has turn down our critical thinking and questioning skills.

What is the purpose of study history, as why is it important to study history for any society and nation? Why one wishes to join with the discipline of history, what will benefit me to study history as this is not very simple! Rather it requires highly sophisticated cognitive skills to deal with the notion of history. Any historical event or figure cannot be understood in isolation with past therefore creating a link with present any historical image can be understood.

Those intellectuals, who wish to study history, prepare themselves to move beyond the present time and this way any person can create a link between past and present and further present Community and its definition has emerge from history, who are we and what are beliefs and why we believe on what we believe, are some of the questions that would lead to know and study the history for knowledge, belongings, relations and community.

History serves as a guide to shows us the choices and preference of our ancestors, what they preferred and why. It enable us to rationalize the process, raise questions and once our logic accepts then we follow the foot steps of our ancestors, on the contrary if we did not seek the reasons of such practices, traditions then either we disown them or ignore it.

History helps in enabling practitioners confident and appreciates their relation with certain practices, as it provides historical evidence that comforts the learners and then s/he strongly follows the path.

Above all, history provides identification of a person in the past and this enable him to develop his identify his roots and create link with his belongings in past and further shapes his present life based on his identity rooted in history.
