Imperialism in India

Imperialism in India helped create an India that we know today. Imperialism brought many new things such as technology and medicine to help bring India to the modern era.

There were many countries that were influenced through imperialism. This would mainly include countries from Africa and Asia. Imperialism could be considered as a negative or positive influence through different perspectives. Some may see it as how a larger and stronger country takes over a weak and unstable nation. Or they can see it as how nations help each other by exchanging ideas and cultures. Countries such as Great Britain were an important nation who used imperialism to spread technology and ideas. Great Britain brought more positive effects than negative in India. Without imperialism in India, it would not be as successful as it is today.

To begin with, Britain had influenced India to modernize which has helped them in the long run. If they were never imperialized, they may not be as successful as today. Great Britain has been credited with introducing them with modern education, public health, setting up a parliamentary government and much more. This laid the foundation to building a great nation. India would be different today if they were not imperialized because Britain had united India and created nationalism. India may still be using old methods in farming without Great Britain. Today India is widely known for its excellence in the medical field.

Next, many may view imperialism as a negative influence where a stronger country takes over a smaller one. But, that is not true. The stronger countries would bring new ideas and technology which has helped them in the future. For instance, Great Britain had helped create roads and set up a form of government. Today it can run independently because of Great Britain’s assistance. Without them, they would be another country who would always need assistance from others.

Finally, the world has benefited from this greatly. India is a leading country in its medical field. In fact, people around the world fly all the way to India to perform surgeries because it is much cheaper. Also, India is an important country who helps supply the world with agricultural products. This includes spices and rice. Today people in India are used in offshore jobs. Countries would not have to pay them as much while getting the job done. Without proper education this would not happen.

In conclusion, imperialism in India has helped the country dramatically because today, it is a very strong and stable nation. Great Britain helped educate the Indian people bringing them new technologies and ideas. Without their help India would not have modern education. They would also loose their status in one of the best countries in the medical field which serves the world.

I am myself from India. So,I want to clarify some of the points,u mentioned here.First, you may not know India was one of the richest countries in the world till the coming of British. Second, whatever British had done ,it was only for themselves. For eg.in educating the people the reason was that India as a country of more than 1000 languages,so British started teaching the people in English,so that communicate with the local. They set up roads, railways only to carry goods from production site to industrial site.Again, whatever u r taking of agriculture,it was only after independence India achieved success.they really has taken a lot of wealth from us,which u can never underestimate,as compared to what they have done to the country.I love india.Jai hind.
